IT’S FOOTBALL PLAYOFF SEASON, SO LET’S TALK ABOUT “PERFECTION”
We’re based in the Kansas City metro area, so you can only imagine just how much we love our Chiefs. Super Bowl-bound yet again? We hope so, but we’ll have to wait and see.
But there’s a story to tell here, and how it’s symbolic relative to one of our customers. Stay with us on this one.
Let’s start here: Can you name the only team in the history of the NFL to go undefeated?
🐬 That, of course, would be the 1972 Miami Dolphins.
That year Miami not only scored the most points in the league (385; 27.5 per game), but they also allowed the fewest points scored against them (171; 12.2 per game). That’s some real dominance on both sides of the ball.
🏈 What’s interesting is that our beloved Arrowhead stadium opened that same year, 1972, and the first game played was against – you guessed it – Miami’s Dolphins. The Chiefs lost that day, 20-10, and Miami ran the table the remainder of the season, culminating in a Super Bowl championship.
What many DON’T know is that the Dolphins had lost the previous year’s Super Bowl, and when their dejected squad sat quietly in the loser’s dressing room, Hall of Fame Coach Don Shula said,
“Remember how this feels gentlemen, because I guarantee you won’t feel it again. We’re going to win them all next year.” And the rest is sports history.

Perfection, indeed, is most often an impossibility. To witness, it’s only happened once in the 102-year history of the NFL. And yet …

No, we didn’t predict it the way Coach Shula did, but at least we had the foresight to TRACK IT, because it’s that type of KPI that earns our customers’ trust and respect.
