WHY YOUR 3PL SHOULD BE LIKE SELF-DRIVING TRUCKS

You know they’re coming, right? The autonomous big rig. And sooner than you think.

The experts say, “In the next few years.” Wow!

Think about it. You’re on vacation, driving down the interstate and glance over at the fully loaded semi. But instead of seeing a driver in the cab, well, there’s just … nothing. It’s a ghost. Only a steering wheel gently, slightly moving back and forth – constantly adjusting – with rear view mirrors the size of lawn chairs.

Talk about unsettling!

However, it’s those colossal mirrors that, in time, will provide you comfort and confidence. Let us explain.

Complex sensors necessary for accurate navigation and safety – including cameras, radars, and lidars – are mounted on those mirrors. They help the truck “see” things that even experienced drivers might miss.

And there it is.

Was your freight broker chosen to help you and your organization “see what others might miss?” To frequently deliver important insights that could help improve productivity, reduce waste and rework, and help lower costs?

Said another way, does your 3PL “sense” (anticipate?) critical trends and other factors that could help you run your freight operation more smoothly?

We believe that the transportation industry should not be one where “lowest price wins the day,” mainly because that kind of thinking and behavior DOES … NOT … SCALE. Each day resets to zero, and that’s just not smart business. Would you agree?

Self-driving trucks constantly accumulate data by the second, forever making adjustments to improve performance.

Shouldn’t your freight broker do the same?
