Uh oh, not again. U.S. Container-Ship Bottleneck Lurches Near Its February Record The most significant US trade gateway with Asia is clogged with the most inbound container vessels in more than six months, threatening to extend transportation delays, bite further into margins for American importers, and boost prices for consumers. Thirty-seven ships were anchored awaiting berth space outside the twin ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, California as of 8/15 – the most since February, and double the length of the queue in mid-July. Walmart recently announced they were going to be chartering vessels to beat the holiday shipping crunch. Our advice? Don’t procrastinate on your holiday shopping this year! Ship Smarter. |
