MyFreightWorld Carrier Management – Carrier Sales Manager Job Description
Summary:
We are looking for a talented, driven Carrier Sales Manager who is highly experienced in the transportation industry (must be a 3PL), who can motivate and lead a successful carrier sales team. Develop strategic relationships with carrier partners, negotiate competitive rates, and ensuring exceptional service levels. You will also lead, coach, and support a team of carrier sales representatives to achieve performance goals and maximize carrier capacity.
This is an in-office role.
Company Info: Our expertise in the transportation industry dates back more than 20 years in Truckload services. We provide logistics solutions for various customers, ranging from large national companies to smaller independent businesses.
Duties:
- Lead and manage a carrier sales team, providing mentorship, performance feedback, and training.
- Interview, hire, onboard and train entry-level carrier representatives
- Collaborate with operations and customer sales teams to match freight demand with carrier supply.
- Build effective relationships across the organization.
- Be a fountain, not a drain.
- Ensure employees maintain the highest level of integrity.
- Monitor carrier sales reports, act as needed and communicate market trends and market conditions to carrier sales team.
- Utilize market intelligence to inform pricing strategies and improve profitability.
- Assist in resolving escalated issues.
- Maintain and develop new strategies to grow profits while maintaining the highest level of service.
- Must have availability for weekend and after-hours support.
Experience/Skills:
- 3–5+ years of experience in carrier sales or freight brokerage, including at least 1–2 years in a leadership role.
- Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Strong negotiation and presentation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of providing strong professional references – superior, peer and direct-report
